Looking back, this week resembles some sort of a blur. Just to add some perspective, I am currently looking at the same to-do list that I started Tuesday morning and it seems to have gotten longer, not shorter!

I have always been the type of person that likes to stay busy. I would rather have a long list of tasks than to not have anything to do at all. At the same time, I would rather be sent tasks over time that accumulate than have five things thrown my way all at once. However, life is not about what you want, it is about what you have and how you handle it.

If you think about it, the people that earn the most respect and are held in high esteem are the ones that have ridiculously unpredictable obstacles thrown their way, yet they still gracefully handle those as if they were just one of many small issues that arise in a day.

Being a collegiate golfer, I have become accustomed to applying and managing my own personal pressure. Since golf is an individual sport, nobody else has any bearing on personal performance. At the end of the day, I am responsible for the numbers I post and the way I hold myself no matter the results. Similarly, while my to do list on any given day is probably of minuscule resemblance to anyone else, it’s all about my personal experiences and limits. The most important thing for me is to push those limits and perform under my own personal pressure to become a stronger, more experienced and reliable individual.

If we all were given the things we wanted, there would be no obstacles, no goal setting and in the end no overall growth. Time management has always been a strong suit of mine, however one cannot perfect this skill until one knows how to manage the last minute tasks that are thrown into the mix. This week, by pushing my personal limits, I let the last minute tasks push me to become more fluid in my daily schedule. Next on my mental to-do list: remember/complete all of the tasks that get put on hold after these last minute hiccups!
